The Shemer Art Center is excited to offer multiple week long summer camp for children ages 10-13. Classes also available for 6-9 year olds.
I will be teaching 3 out of the 4 weeks.

Week 1 = June 1 - June 5, 2015 Ages 10-13

Theme: Amazing Animals
Instructor: Christy Puetz
Class details = Wether mythical, tropical, or domesticated, animals are inspiring. Participants will discuss animal symbolism then create a 3-D sculptural animal or mythical creature, felted animal mask, and lucky creature collage. Each animal project will be made with a variety of materials and techniques: paper mache, wet felting, drawing, cloth construction, and other mixed medias.
Tentative daily projects:

A mini art show will be on display on the last day of each week.
Campers must pack a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks. Registrations are on a first come, first-served basis.
Week 3- (6/15 - 6/19) Ages 10-13

Theme: Outer Space & Beyond
Instructor: Christy Puetz
Class details: Use space travel, planets, and aliens as inspiration to create a 3-D sculptural alien or astronaut, rocket/space ship or robot, a dimensional diorama backdrop, and other science based art projects. Each element will be made with a variety of materials and techniques including: clay, recycled materials, and other mixed media. This week of camp is out of this world!

Theme: Circus and Sideshow Adventure:
Instructor: Christy Puetz
Class details: use circus and sideshow animals and performers as inspiration to create a sculptural figure, animal hat, animal mask, and design a dimensional circus tent space for your figure and animal to interact. Every element will be made with a variety of materials and techniques: the figure with wire, clay, and mixed media; a felt and mixed media animal hat and mask; circus tent with images and colorful papers. Bio: Christy Puetz received a BFA in Fiber Arts with a minor in printmaking from the University of North Dakota. She has exhibited widely for over twenty-five years and worked as a teaching artist in the community for over twelve. She has exhibited her artwork extensively around the country, been published in multiple books, and designed dozens of commissioned art pieces for collectors.
