Scottsdale Artists' School Youth Academy Summer Camp

Session 1- Action-Packed Art

In this session, students will have fun in an action-themed week creating art with dynamic motion and dramatic impact.
During the week, young artists will embark on a true artists’ journey, exploring all stages of creating art. Students will learn the fundamentals of art while having fun producing a variety of projects.

*This session is only 4 days long due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Session 6- Art of Hollywood

Session 7- Wildlife West

Session 8- Anime & Manga Cartooning

The Shemer Art Center is excited to offer multiple week long summer camp for children ages 10-13.  Classes also available for 6-9 year olds.
I will be teaching 3 out of the 4 weeks.

Week 1 =  June 1 - June 5, 2015                           Ages 10-13
Price: $225.00 
Start Date: June 1, 2015 
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Theme: Amazing Animals
Instructor: Christy Puetz
Class details =  Wether mythical, tropical, or domesticated, animals are inspiring.  Participants will discuss animal symbolism then create a 3-D sculptural animal or mythical creature, felted animal mask, and lucky creature collage.  Each animal project will be made with a variety of materials and techniques: paper mache, wet felting, drawing, cloth construction, and other mixed medias.
Tentative daily projects:
-Animal symbolism, drawing, papermache sculpture, discuss art elements
Sculpture, felting
-Mask construction, sewing, image collage
-Painting, drawing
-Collage, project wrap up
A mini art show will be on display on the last day of each week.
Campers must pack a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks.  Registrations are on a first come, first-served basis.  




Week 3- (6/15 - 6/19) Ages 10-13
Price: $225.00 
Start Date: June 15, 2015 
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Theme: Outer Space & Beyond


Instructor: Christy Puetz

Class details:  Use space travel, planets, and aliens as inspiration to create a 3-D sculptural alien or astronaut, rocket/space ship or robot, a dimensional diorama backdrop, and other science based art projects. Each element will be made with a variety of materials and techniques including: clay, recycled materials, and other mixed media. This week of camp is out of this world!
Tentative daily Projects:(subject to change at instructors discretion)
-Wire/clay sculpture
-sculpture and diorama
-Recycled robot/rocket construction,
-mini comic strip
-Painting, diorama, drawing.
Campers must pack a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks.  Registrations are on a first come, first-served basis.  



Week 4- (6/22 - 6/26) Ages 10-13
Price: $225.00 
Start Date: June 22, 2015 
10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Theme: Circus and Sideshow Adventure: 


Instructor: Christy Puetz

Class details:  use circus and sideshow animals and performers as inspiration to create a sculptural figure, animal hat, animal mask, and design a dimensional circus tent space for your figure and animal to interact. Every element will be made with a variety of materials and techniques: the figure with wire, clay, and mixed media; a felt and mixed media animal hat and mask; circus tent with images and colorful papers. See you under the big top!

-Figure sculpture

-Painting
-Storytelling using diorama & sculpture
Campers must pack a lunch and snack every day to eat during supervised breaks.  Registrations are on a first come, first-served basis.  Class size limited to 20 students.



Bio: Christy Puetz received a BFA in Fiber Arts with a minor in printmaking from the University of North Dakota. She has exhibited widely for over twenty-five years and worked as a teaching artist in the community for over twelve. She has exhibited her artwork extensively around the country, been published in multiple books, and designed dozens of commissioned art pieces for collectors.
